Daisy the Dachshund with a spinal problem
Daisy was in an Ogden, Utah, shelter where she was scheduled for euthanasia. She had been adopted twice and returned each time because of her spinal condition. At this shelter you don't get a third chance. A local rescue group pulled this miniature Dachshund and asked if we could take her.
They named her Duckie because of the way she walked, and she has a distinctive “clump-clump-clump” sound to her gait. One of the sanctuary's supporters, a Doxieholic himself, suggested naming her Daisy instead, after Donald Duck's girlfriend. And “Daisy” seemed to suit her perfectly.

She's just like our other miniature Dachshund, Bailey, who also has a spinal problem. Both Daisy and Bailey are incontinent because of their spinal conditions, which is why we have linoleum!
But that's not all they have in common -- they're in love, too! It wasn't love at first sight, though. Daisy was fixated on Steve when she first arrived, and she wouldn't leave his side. She ignored Bailey, who tried everything he could to get her attention. No dice.
Finally, after a week of playing hard-to-get, Daisy finally succumbed to Bailey's charms. She realized he's cute, has a muscular chest, and has a great personality, too. Now they get excited when the other one comes into the house, eager to say “hello” after being separated for all of, say, 5 minutes. They rush up to each other, bump shoulders, do a little strut, and then settle down on the nearest dog bed together.
