The
sanctuary is home to 40 dogs on average at any one time. They
arrive at the ranch from all over the country. .. California,
New York, Idaho, Illinois, and Washington, for example. ..
as well as from shelters across Montana.
We have an open, ‘home-style' environment at the sanctuary. We don't have kennels or runs. The dogs live in full-size, heated and insulated cottages that range in size from 200 square feet up to 1,000 square feet. During the day they get to play in big, fully fenced enclosures (we call them “dog paddocks”). .. the largest is about 2 acres. At night they snuggle in their cottages.
It's a wonderful sight to see all these dogs. .. no matter what their disabilities. .. playing with each other outdoors. Our visitors often can't believe that the dogs they see running and jumping and tumbling are blind or cope with some other kind of disability. This is a special place for some very special dogs.
