Stoney the blind dog

Stoney was turned into the Lewis & Clark Humane Society in Helena, Montana, after her family went through a divorce. First the husband dropped her off at the shelter, and that's when the shelter asked if we could take this blind Lab. Then, before we could do anything, the next day the wife picked her up and took her home. A day later the couple brought her back to the shelter together. The shelter called again and said, “She's back!”
Later we got the story. The family had another dog that did not like Stoney and would attack her, and they were worried about both Stoney's safety and the safety of their young child at home. The couple's divorce limited their options on how to deal with it.

Stoney had one eye removed a few years ago from glaucoma, and then the remaining eye went blind, too. She is a sweet, lovable girl. She's well mannered, eager to please, gentle, and pretty, too!
We found early on that Stoney is quite the hydrologist. And you don't have to see to know there's water around! In fact, anytime there is running water, whether from a yard hydrant or a hose, Stoney dives headfirst into it. She loves to bite at the stream of water, trying to capture it in her mouth, while she splashes water all over herself and any hapless person standing nearby.
