Waylon the deaf dog
Waylon
had sat in an animal control facility in Shelton, Washington
for weeks after being picked up as a stray. The shelter described
him as 'stone deaf.'
When his number was nearly up, a concerned local resident contacted us about him. As it turned out, a Montana friend of the sanctuary was visiting Seattle at the same time and offered to bring Waylon back for us. So the local resident checked Waylon out of the shelter and drove him up to Seattle to meet our friend. A long day's road trip together and they arrived at the ranch.
Most dogs need some time to adjust once they arrive. Not Waylon. He walked right into the house, laid down on the kitchen floor, and looked up at us with an expression that clearly said, "Where's dinner?" He paid absolutely no attention to the other dogs milling around.

He is one of the sweetest, most easy-going dogs we have ever seen. Mellow is the best word to describe him. Waylon is an absolute gentleman.
Wobbles our kitten with a neurological problem loves to cuddle up with his 'uncle Waylon'. We'll find the two of them snuggled up together, big white dog and little wobbly kitten.
We can't imagine how a dog like this could end up as a stray,
or why anyone wouldn't search for him if he went missing.
But this wonderful boy is happy to be here, and we're happy
to have him.
