Oscar

Oscar Main

Oscar bounced through at least three households in his 10 years before ending up at the sanctuary. He came to us from a family that had given up on him. Citing behavioral issues – accidents in the house, frequent throwing up, perceived aggression towards small children – the parents decided it was time to surrender the dog to a shelter.

Knowing that an old dog with behavioral issues would probably not fare well at a traditional shelter, they searched for an alternative and eventually found us.

We haven't found any problems with this tiny, 11-pound dog. No accidents, no aggression. The throwing up was due to serious dental disease and rotten teeth, which our vets took care of right away.

He loves to stand next to the big dogs when they play and roughhouse, constantly barking encouragement. When the other dogs take off across the paddock, Oscar races along behind on his little legs, trying to keep up.

It may have taken him most of his life to get here, but Oscar's finally home for good.
